Breaking the Code. By Hugh Whitemore.

Directed by Susan Deaney

Based on the book "The Enigma", Thame Players presented the story of Alan Turing and his work during the war.

Turing's life was told in a series of scenes moving backwards and forward and culminating in his death.  Skilfully directed by Susan Deaney, John Poole gave a sterling performance as Turing, his homosexuality sensitively portrayed throughout.  Dorrie Oliver was excellent as Turing's mother and Simon Baynes was superb as Dillwyn Knox.

Indeed the play was so well cast that there was not a weak link in any of the characters.  The story had both light and shade, depth but also humour which made for an extremely interesting evening.  The clever use of lighting enabled the many scenes to evolve with ease and continuity allowing the audience to become engrossed in the action.

Thame Players are an extremely talented group. Breaking the Code was another triumph.
